From the 1930s when Robert Penn Warren and Cleanth Brooks were hatching All the King's Men, The Southern Review, and The New Criticism, LSU's Department of English has had a long and various history as a vibrant literary community as well as a center of energetic critical research, changing and growing in new directions with each generation of students and faculty.
